(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia men's hockey traveled to #12 Indiana Tech on Friday night. The Cardinals fought to a tie after the first period, but the Warriors surged ahead and took a 5-1 win.
Zachary Janis played a complete game in net with 23 saves. Indiana Tech struck first, but the Cardinals countered on the powerplay when Derek Hebner fired a quick wrister with assists by Seth Francois and Tyler Bieniek. The game was tied 1-1 after the first period.
The second period was chippy featuring 10 combined penalties for both teams. Indiana Tech added two goals and led 3-1 after the frame.
The Warriors tacked on two more goals in the third period. While the Cardinals still continued to generate chances in the offensive zone, Indiana Tech took the 5-1 win.
Concordia will host Indiana Tech tomorrow at 5:30 to complete the weekend series.
