Men's tennis falls in weekend double header

The men's tennis team continued their stretch off fall matches playing a weekend double header including their first home match. On Friday afternoon, the Cardinals played host to Olivet College at Chippewa Tennis Club and were defeated 5-2. On Saturday afternoon, the team made a trip across the border to South Bend, IN for a match against IU South Bend and fell 1-6.

Olivet Match Notes

James Olson (SO/Charlotte, MI) and Eli Werner (FR/Munising, MI) picked up the two points in the singles matches. Olson participating at #1 singles defeated his opponent 6-3, 7-6. Werner was effective at #5 singles defeating Donald Doyle convincingly 6-1, 6-3.

Ryan Curtis (SR/Hartland, MI) and Sam Dobben (SR/Jackson, MI) were victorious at #2 singles 6-4 but Olivet took the other two doubles matches to earn the lone point available at doubles.

IU South Bend Match Notes

Eli Werner carried over his momentum from Friday to earn a point for the Cardinals at #4 singles. The freshman earned a win for the second consecutive days defeating his opponent in a tough fought 7-6, 7-6 victory.

Werner and his partner Sean Sheppard (SR/Waterford, MI) were winners at #3 singles 5-3 but IU South Bend won the other two doubles matches to earn point.

The Cardinals will return to action this Friday as the host Adrian College at Chippewa Tennis Club. The match is scheduled to start at 5:30pm.
