Men's Tennis comes up short against Aquinas and #RV Cornerstone

(Grand Rapids, MI) Concordia Men's Tennis headed to the westside of the state to complete their match against Aquinas, and take on the #RV Golden Eagles from Cornerstone. The Cardinals fell to Aquinas 5-2, and were swept by Cornerstone 7-0 to conclude their WHAC regular season.

 

Concordia 2 – Aquinas 5

The Cardinals took the doubles point, with Andrew Dobbs and Jordan Conn winning the second match in a tiebreaker (7-6, 7-5) and Ethan Hiltz and Logan Fuller winning the third slot by default. Benjamin King and Edward Lupas put up a fight in the top match, falling 6-4.

 

Logan Fuller secured the Cardinals second point of the match with a default win in the sixth slot. Ethan Hiltz forced his #5 match into a third set, ultimately falling (6-3, 4-6, 11-13). Both of Jordan Conn's sets in #3 Singles were close as he went down (6-7, 4-6). Edward Lupas came up short (2-6, 4-6) in the fourth slot, while Benjamin King took four games in the top match. Andrew Dobbs took a game in each set.

 

Concordia 0 – #RV Cornerstone 7

Cornerstone won all three on the doubles matches to earn the point. Benjamin King and Ethan Hiltz took a pair of games in the second slot, while the Golden Eagles swept Andrew Dobbs and Jordan Conn in the #1 match and Edward Lupas and Logan Fuller in the #3 match.

 

Cornerstone kept the Cardinals at bay, only dropping two games at most per match. Benjamin King, Jordan Conn, and Logan Fuller all took a pair of games in the first, third, and sixth slots respectively. In #2 and #4 Singles Andrew Dobbs and Edward Lupas took a game. Ethan Hiltz was swept in the fifth slot.

 

 

The team will enter the postseason with the WHAC Tournament taking place on Friday, April 26th in Midland, Michigan.
