Six Cardinals receive NCCAA Softball Awards

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Softball team capped off their season in Botetourt, Virginia in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series where they advanced to the semi-finals before falling to runner-up Biola University. The NCCAA has announced their 2019 Softball Awards and and 6 different Cardinals have been recognized for their performances on and off the diamond.


Senior Kali Hill has been recognized by the NCCAA for her outstanding performance throughout the World Series Tournament by being named to the All-Tournament Team. Hill was behind the plate for all four games and managed a pair of games where the Cardinals only allowed 1 or less runs in the tournament. Hill led the team offensively, batting .500 during the four games, with two doubles, and bringing home one run.


Hill had a career year for the Cardinals, improving her batting average to .340, scoring 10 runs, and driving in 28. As the team's primary catcher, Hill maintained a .977 fielding percentage and gunned down 8 opponents attempting to steal.


Five other Cardinals joined Hill as NCCAA Scholar Athletes in 2019. Kara Gehrke and Cierra Woods along with Hill were named Scholar Athletes for the second year in a row. New to the honor in 2019, Carley Drzewiecki, Alyssa Jabara, and Melanie Richardson were recognized for their excellence in their sport and their studies.
