STUNT goes 1-1 in Senior Day home meet

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Cards opened at home beating University of Michigan STUNT 17-4, and then dropping a match 2-20 against Ashland University (DII #5).

Game one included an almost full sweep of Quarter 2, along with full point grabs in the second half of Quarter 4. Game Power Players were #22 Xiomara Thurman (19) and #7 Savana Ruffner (18). Star Players for Jumps & Tumbling were #23 Celina Hinojosa, and #28 Breanna Ray.

Power Players and Star Players are based on a system that calculates points for each athlete based on routines they compete in, the points earned for those routines, the level of the routines in which they are in, etc.

"Each week we get stronger and are able to compete in more routines. This week's match saw our biggest push and gains in Jumps and Tumbling routines", says Head Coach Kate Edge.

Game two the Cards struggled to get points on the board. But were lead Power Players, #28 Breanna Ray (6), #23 Celina Hinojosa (6), and #7 Savana Ruffner (6)

Reflecting on the tough game Coach Edge said, "Ashland is such a strong team, their technique and execution are tough to beat. We knew we would have to be near perfect to score against them. It just did not come together for us like we had worked for."

The Cardinals also recognized seniors Marissa Sullivan, Elissa Peterson and Kenna Millhouse.

The STUNT team travels to Missouri Baptist next weekend for a host of Conference Match ups.
