Women's Golf ends their 2021-22 season at the WHAC Championships

(Battle Creek, MI) - The Concordia University women's golf team ended their 2021-22 season as they competed at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships over the past two days.

The Cardinals saw Lily Alaspa, Amelia Black, and Rachel Yuhas compete as individuals at the tournament.

Rachel Yuhas was the top finisher for the Cardinals as she ended the tournament with a three-round total of 296 and a round-low of 96. Next was Amelia Black as she was able to conclude the tournament with a 305 score and a low of 97, which tied a season-low for her. The final Cardinal golfer was Lily Alaspa who shot a 382 for the tournament, with a low of 114.

"The dedication and tenacity of our Women's Team has been incredible to watch this season. Each of them consistently dropped strokes round to round during multi-round tournament, and each of them preserved through both difficult conditionals as well as off-days." Said Head Coach Elizabeth Komurka, "Rachel Yuhas and Amelia Black both broke into the 90sm dropping 30 and 27 strokes respectively. Rachel even almost broke into the 80s, shooting her career low of 91. Lily Alaspa came to us part way through the spring semester and has made tremendous improvement in about two months."

Winning the tournament this season was Northwestern Ohio who ran away with the title as they were 34 shots better than second-place Indiana Tech as they shot a 941. Also coming from UNOH was the individual winner as Zoe Wuermli took home the individual title shooting a 228, which was five strokes better than her teammate.

Komurka has this to say about moving forward next season. "From tee box to approach shots is where our off-season focus will be: reducing the number of lost balls and improving our consistency. That, combined with our good putting skills and incoming freshman will make for a very exciting fall. We look forward to posting team scores at all events, and can't wait to see what the next season holds for us."
