James nets two goals in loss to UM-Dearborn

(Dearborn, MI) The Cardinals traveled to Dearborn for their third contest against the Wolverines in five games this past Saturday. In this fourth matchup of the year the Cards earned their most favorable result, keeping the game within single digits, but ultimately losing 2-11.

  • UM-Dearborn opened up the game with six first period goals, including two from Claudia Maguire. Maguire would go on to score a hat trick with another goal in the third period.
  • The Concordia defense was able to slow down the Wolverines in the second period, by only allowing one goal from Odisoula Argyris a little under four minutes into the period. Argyris went on to lead the Wolverines with four goals on the night.
  • UM-Dearborn was able to tack on another four goals in the final period of play with two of the goals being assisted by Brooke Spiegel. Brooke Spiegel led the Wolverines with 5 assists and 15 shots on goal.
  • Aaliyah James broke the Wolverine shutout with less than two minutes remaining, converting on a power play for the Cardinals. This was James' first collegiate goal for Concordia and was assisted by Kassidy Scheben.
  • James would not be done for the night, as she netted a second goal with 16 seconds remaining off of Adrianna Rugiero's assist.
  • Teagen Johnson racked up 65 saves in goal for Concordia.

Concordia will take to the road for a pair of games against Penn State and Rhode Island this Friday and Saturday respectively. The games will take place at 6:00 pm and 4:00 pm in University Park, Pennsylvania.
