Women's tennis defeated by Alma 8-1 in season opener

(Alma, MI) After having their first match postponed on Friday afternoon due to weather, the women's tennis team began their 2019 fall season on the road at Alma College. The Scots defended their home courts defeating the Cardinals 8-1.

Charity Felton (JR/Fort Wayne, IN) showed her experience and earned the Cardinals only point at #1 singles defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-4. Charity almost picked up a second point for the Cardinals at #1 doubles but was eventually defeated 8-5.

Making her freshman debut, Maggie Tucker (FR/Grass Lake, MI) nearly picked up a point for the Cardinals at #3 singles. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Tucker cruised to a 6-2 third game forcing a winner take all tie breaker set. Maggie's opponent picked up the tie-breaker with a score of 10-1.

The Cardinals will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Indiana University South Bend as matches are set to begin at 1pm.
