Women's tennis picks up win over Albion College, 4-3

(Ypsilanti, MI) After having two matches postponed due to mother nature, the women's tennis team finally returned to the courts last Friday, October 4th. The Cardinals hosted Albion College at Chippewa Tennis Club and earned their first victory over the fall 4-3.

The Cardinals dominated the singles matches to earn all four of their points. Charity Felton (JR/Fort Wayne, IN) picked up a point in a three sets. After losing the first set, 2-6, Felton responded with a commanding 6-2 and then 10-3 in the tie-breaker set. Kayla Verhelle (SR/Clinton Township, MI) earned a hard fought point at #3 singles, winning the tie-breaker set, 10-7. Taylor Kahlstorf (SR/Munising, MI) and Maggie Tucker (FR/Grass Lake, MI) cruised in their singles matches picking up two more points for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals dropped all the doubles matches but earned the points they needed in singles to earn their first victory of the abbreviated fall season.

The Cardinals will conclude their fall season this Saturday against Cornerstone University. The match is scheduled to start at 3pm at Chippewa Tennis Club.
