Women's Tennis comes up short in weekend double header

The women's tennis team continued their stretch of fall matches playing a weekend double header including their first home match of the season. On Friday afternoon, the Cardinals hosted Olivet College at Chippewa Tennis Club and narrowly lost by a score of 4-5. On Saturday afternoon, the team travelled to South Bend, IN for a match against IU South Bend and lost by a score of 0-7.

Olivet Match Notes

Charity Felton continued her hot start to the season with her second straight win at #1 singles, as she took down Miranda Pier convincingly (6-1, 6-2).

Freshman Maggie Tucker recorded her first collegiate victory on Friday, as she beat Emily Foulk by 6-1, 6-4.

Kayla Verhelle won her singles match as well, as the senior defeated Sydnie Weller by a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Concordia's fourth point during the match came from Tucker and Verhelle as they won a closely contested doubles match against Anneliese Jones and Haley Eversole (6-6, 7-5).

IU South Bend Match Notes

The Cardinals had a quick turnaround as they took on the Titans of IU South Bend, who were coming off a 3 match winning streak, only losing 4 sets in the process.

The Titans would go on to sweep Concordia, 7-0 with Verhelle getting the closest to a singles win with a 6-3, 6-3 effort.

Felton and Taylor Kahlstorf put up a fight in their doubles match, but ultimately lost 6-3.

The Cardinals will return to action this Friday as they play host to Adrian College. The match is scheduled to start at 5:30pm at Chippewa Tennis Club.
