Gibbons and Bieniek earn WHAC Player of the Week honors

The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and Elijah Gibbons and Quinn Bieniek were named the Men's Hockey WHAC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week. The Cardinals' netminder and left wing led Concordia to a 3-0 week including a sweep of Cleary over the weekend.

Gibbons anchored the Cardinal defense in the weekend sweep over Cleary. Gibbons totaled 68 saves while only allowing 4 goals. The senior had a .944 save percentage on the weekend and improved his overall record to 2-1 in the shortened season.

Quinn Bieniek led the Cardinals to an undefeated week scoring three goals and five assists. He recorded a point in each of the Cardinals' three games. The freshman has 11 points on the season with 3 goals and 8 assists.

This is the second time Gibbons has been named Defensive Player of the Week in his career and Bieniek's first. They are the first two Cardinals to earn the award this season.

The men's hockey team will look to continue their winning streak on Friday, March 5th when they travel to Lawrence Tech for a 2:30 PM puck drop.
