On Monday, March 1, 2021, Concordia University will host its first-ever day of giving. Titled "March MATCHness," the 24-hour initiative invites the entire Concordia University community—students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends—to come together to advance the Concordia mission and to make a huge impact in the lives of students.
The day of giving targets three specific areas of the Concordia mission – mind, body, and spirit. Athletics will fall under the "body" category as donations can be made to directly enhance the student-athlete experience.
Athletics plays a vital role within the student-athlete experience at CUAA. Over 500 student-athletes (60% of student body) participate in one of 26 varsity sports. All funds that are directed towards athletics will go to support facility development initiatives. The athletic department has identified a new fitness center (weight room, cardio equipment, etc) as a specific area of need.
Director of Athletics Lonnie Pries affirmed the funds raised will go towards directly impacting the student-athlete experience while expressing gratitude for the generou support. "We are very excited that we have this opportunity to come together as the CUAA family and pool our resources towards our fitness center/weight room project. We are very thankful that our advancement department has provided this opportunity for us. We are also are very appreciative to those that plan on supporting our efforts on March 1st. "
The day of giving will be comprised of fun and friendly competitions and various online and in-person opportunities to DOUBLE your support with MATCH challenges. The matching gifts are made possible by generous sponsors and supporters of the university.
