Track and field continues indoor season at Warrior Invitational

(Fort Wayne, Ind.) On Friday, January 29 2021, CUAA Track & Field traveled to Fort Wayne, IN to compete in the Warrior Invitational at the Turnstone Center, hosted by Indiana Tech. 

 

The Cardinals saw fierce competition with both NAIA and NCAA teams from all over the Midwest at the invite.

Highlights include:

 

Mae Dulin (Sr; Detroit, Mich.) represented the women's sprints squad in both the 60m (8.38) and 200m (28.02). Fellow sprinter Alan Jones (Sr; Canton, Mich) ran well in both the men's 200m (23.23) where he won his heat and in the 60m dash where he tied his own personal record of 7.16 seconds. 

 

The men's distance trio of Avery Sanchez (Allen Park, Mich),  Adam DiMaggio (Irmo, S.C.), and Teddy Eising (Royal Oak, Mich.) debuted their talents in the 1,000m race, running 2:57.28, 3:04.06, and 3:05.74 respectively. Freshman Megan Espinoza (Manistique, MI) also ran a new event, recording a 12:37.90 finish in the women's 3,000m. 

 

High jumper Ethan Szabados (Soph; Brownstown, Mich.) represented the men's jumps squad, while women's high jumper Sierra Stechebar (Soph; Rockford, Mich.) cleared 3 bars, finishing her day at 1.50m, just 3 cm shy of her PR. 

 

Throwers Zachary Belinsky (Soph; Beluah, Mich.) and Eric Bugg (Sr; Ida, Mich.) opened their indoor seasons in both the weight throw and shot put. In a competitive field of the men's weight throw, Belinsky had a toss of 10.68m, and Bugg a throw of 13.79, just shy of his personal record of 14.1m. In the shot put, Belinsky bested a launch of 11.18m while Bugg heaved a toss of 13.14m.
