Preview: Men's and women's indoor track and field set to participate in WHAC Championships

(Grand Rapids, MI) The Concordia men's and women's indoor track and field team will finish their indoor seasons this weekend at the WHAC Indoor Track and Field Championships February 20th. Aquinas College will once again play host to a competitive field of teams and individuals. The Cardinals have had a strong showing in their indoor meets this winter and will look to carry that momentum into the championship event. The following is a breakdown of where several Cardinals stand within the conference as they look to punch their ticket for the NAIA Indoor National Championship March 5th-March 7th.

Men's T&F

  • Eric Bugg ranks 5th among shot put throwers in the WHAC and 4th overall in the weight throw. His distances of 13.95 (shot put) and 15.26 (weight throw) are personal record and puts him contention for an all-conference finish.
  • Bugg will be joined in the shot put event by other Cardinals in a competitive and crowded field. Zachary Belinsky, Richard Branch, Noah Pastrana and Josh Wood will also compete.  
  • Alan Jones will have a full slate of events for the Cardinals. Jones will run in the 60 meter dash, 200m, and 4x400m relay.
  • Adam DiMaggio, Theodore Eising, Noah Starkey, and Avery Sanchez will represent the Cardinals a variety of the middle and long distance events.  

 

Women's T&F

  • Mae'isha Dulin will anchor the Cardinals sprint events running in the 200m, 400m and the 4x400m.
  • Sierra Stechebar's height of 1.50m in the high jump will allow her to represent the Cardinals among the WHAC's best.
  • Freshman standout Megan Espinoza will represent the Cardinals in three events. She will run a leg in the 4x800m, the one mile, 1000m.
  • Gabby Porter will participate in the 4x400m, 4x800m, and the 600m.
