Spectator policy announced for athletic events

COVID Conscious Campus

Effective Saturday, Feb 2nd, a limited number of spectators will be allowed at basketball basketball games, cheer and dance competitions, and ice hockey games. 

The following policies and guidelines will be implmented for spectators:

  • Each Concordia player and coach will be allowed four guest passes per event. This pass list must be submitted by the head coach prior to the day of the event. Only these pass list guests, Concordia students, staff and faculty, and game day personnel will be permitted to attend home events for the sports of men's and women's basketball, cheer and dance, and volleyball. 
  • A limited number of students, staff and faculty will be permitted to each event. Those wanted to attend the game must show their Concordia ID upon arrival.
  • All guests are encouraged to do a self-screening prior to arrival. Guests may be required to have their temperature taken and undergo COVID-19 screening prior to entering. Those experiencing symptoms should stay home.
  • No other spectators or visiting fans will be allowed. Live video and stats will be provided complimentary for all home games at www.concordiacardinals.com. A downloadable digital game program will be available as well.
  • Game day supervisors will monitor crowd size and enforce physical distancing. Individuals that live in the same household (living unit) are permitted to sit near one another. Otherwise physical distancing should be practiced (at least six feet of space between individuals)
  • Facial coverings are to be worn at all-times during indoor events.
  • Any gatherings such as tailgating, group meals, and group seating are prohibited. Concessions will not be available.
  • The following policies and procedures will be monitored closely and revised if necessary throughout the winter season.
  • Policies for outdoor sports and spring sports will be announced in the near future.

COVID Conscious Campus

In an effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment at Concordia and in the community, all competitions will be limited to essential personnel only. This policy took effect Jan 11th and will remain until further notice following recent guidelines and mitgation efforts provided by local health officials and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.  Student-athletes, coaches, judges, athletic administrators will be permitted in the building. Complimentary live stream coverage and stats will be provided at all events when possible. As previously noted, for virtual competitions, participating institutions, will provide complimentary live stream coverage. Live results, pictures, and archive recordings will be available on social media and on www.concordiacardinals.com immediately upon the conclusion of the competition.


The Concordia Department of Athletics has released its spectator policy for the 2020 fall sports season. The decisions by Concordia were made primarily for the safety and well-being of all attendees, including student-athletes, officials, staff and spectators. Decisions were guided by the Michigan Department of Health, local health officials and the CDC.

The policies below affect only Concordia athletic events for the fall sports season of 2020. The sports included for this announcement pertain to men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball (varsity and reserve). At this time, spectators are not allowed at non-countable contests or preseason scrimmages. Fans wanting to attend an away event for Concordia should verify the fan policies on each school's website before traveling this fall.

  • Any gatherings such as tailgating, group meals, and group seating are prohibited. Concessions will not be available.
  • Spectator policies for winter and spring sports have not been decided at this time. More information will be released later this fall.
  • The following policies and procedures will be monitored closely and revised if necessary throughout the fall season.
