Men's Track & Field compete at the John Flamino Classic

(Grand Rapids, MI) - The men's track and field team returned to competition from the holiday break by traveling to Grand Rapids for the Jon Flaminio Classic hosted by Aquinas College on Saturday, January 11. The team came away with 1 personal record and 2 new collegiate marks.

Hayden Prone (Sophomore; Fort Gratiot, MI) made his collegiate debut in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash. Prone made his debut with times of 7.86 and 26.03 seconds. In other sprinting events, Zak Schroeder (Junior; Napoleon, OH) ran the 600 meters and finished at 1:34. Dylan Anderson (Sophomore; Ottawa Lake, MI) ran in the 400 and 200-meter dash. Anderson finished with times of 58.75 and 26.02 seconds.

In distance events, Eric Breidert (Freshman; Wenatchee, WA) made his collegiate debut in the mile. Breidert finished with a final time of 5:35. Dominic Catallo (Sophomore; Westland, MI) also competed in the mile, finishing with a time of 5:17. Catallo also ran in the 800-meter run and finished with a time of 2:23.

In field events, Ryan Reynolds (Junior; Northville,MI) threw a personal record in weight throw with a distance of 14.58 meters. Reynolds also competed in the shot put and finished with a throw of 11.14 meters. Scott Smith (Senior; Saginaw, MI) also competed in both shot put and weight throw. Smith recorded distances of 11.28 meters in the shot put and 14.34 meters in the weight throw. Jesse Lietzow (Sophomore; St. Clair Shores, MI) and Gerard Noel (Sophomore; Canton, MI) also competed in both throwing events. Noel finished with 10.90 in put and 11.37 in weight throw. Lietzow had a throw of 9.97 meters in weight throw and finished second in shot put with a throw of 12.87 meters. Dawson Kolka threw a distance of 9.62 meters in weight throw.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, January 17, at the Polar Dog Invitational hosted by Concordia Nebraska.
