Men's Track And Field Competes at Concordia Polar Dog Invite

(Seward, NE) - The men's track and field team traveled to Seward, Nebraska, on Friday, January 17, for the Polar Dog Invite, which sister school Concordia Nebraska hosted. The team departed from the meet with three personal records.  

Hayden Prone (Sophomore; Fort Gratiot, MI ) set a new personal record in the 400-meter dash, running 26.09 in the 200 and 59.35 in the 400. Dylan Anderson (Sophomore) also competed in the 200 and 400, finishing with times of 26.21 and 57.75.

In the 800 meters, Zak Schroeder (Junior; Napoleon, OH) made his season debut in the event with a time of 2:09. Dominic Catallo (Sophomore; Westland, MI) ran to a season-best time of 2:11. Eric Breidert ran to new personal record time in the mile. Breidert narrowly beat his previous time but finished at 5:35.

In field events, Jesse Lietzow (Sophomore; St.Clair Shores, MI)  led the way in the shot put with a throw of 13.26 meters. Scott Smith (Senior; Saginaw, MI) threw a distance of 11.84 meters, followed by Garard Noel (Sophomore; Canton, MI) with a throw of 10.57 meters.

In the weight throw, Ryan Reynolds (Junior; Northville, MI) threw a personal record distance of 14.64 meters. Smith was right behind Reynolds with a throw of 14.31 meters. Noel and Dawson Kolka (Freshman; Sanford,MI) finished the event with throws of 11.34 and 10.37 meters.

The Cardinals will take a week off for the Concordia Invitational Tournament. They will return to action for the Jet's Pizza Invitational at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1.
