(New Boston, MI) - The Men's Cross Country team traveled to Willow Metropark on Friday, September 13 for the Warrior Challenge hosted by Wayne State University. This would be the first time the Men have competed at their typically race distance of 8000 meters.
The Cardinals were led by senior Luke Bentz (Fort Wayne, IN) who crossed the finish line with a time of 31:31. Sophomore Dominic Catallo (Westland, MI) finished second on the team with a final time of 32:55. Eric Briedert (Freshman; Wa) made his 8k debut in a time of 33:48 to round out the day for the Cardinals. The team did not earn a team score with having only three runners compete.
"I thought the guys ran strong, the course provided a good challenge with a step hill they had to run four times. We also still haven't had the weather break yet to give us those cooler fall temperatures to see the really fast times. We are still pretty early in our season, so we got quite a bit of time to continue to get better. I am excited to see the progress we make the next few weeks ," said Head Coach Dominic Santina when asked about the results of the meet.
The Men's team will next compete at Siena Heights for the Suena Heights Invitational on Friday, September 27.
