WHAC CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP: Men's Cross Country closes out season at WHAC Championships

(Grand Rapids, MI) - The Men's Cross Country team wrapped up their season with an 11 place finish at the WHAC Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Cardinals finished the day with 349 points, 24 points ahead of Defiance College; while finishing behind Cleary by 70 points. The team had 3 collegiate debuts and 1 personal record on the day at Riverside Park.

Luke Bentz (Senior; Fort Wayne, IN) led the team with a finishing time of 29:09. Sophomore Dominic Catallo (Westland, MI) finished second for the Cardinals with a time of 30:50. Eric Breidert (Freshman; Wenatchee, WA) ran to a final time of 33:03. Dylan Anderson (Sophomore; Ottawa Lake, MI) made his collegiate debut in the 8k and finished fourth on the team with a time of 38:58. Dawson Kolka (Freshman; Sanford, MI) ran to a 3:43 personal best and helping the team record a team score for the first time this season. Kolka's new personal best time was 48:17. Scott Smith (Senior; Saginaw, MI) and Ryan Reynolds (Junior; Northville, MI) made their collegiate debut and helped the team be able to score.

"I appreciate our four guys coming out and helping us be able to finish the Cross Country season with a full team. I am proud of Eric, Dom and Luke for pushing through this fall and having some strong races and seeing improvement in a tough year," said Head Coach Dom Santina.

The conference meet puts an end to Cross Country season. This concludes the final season of CUAA Cross Country. Bentz will graduate this fall, while Breidert, Catallo, Smith, Anderson and Reynolds will move to competing in indoor.
