Women's Tennis falls against Aquinas and #RV Cornerstone

(Grand Rapids, MI) Concordia Women's Tennis headed to the westside of the state to complete their match against Aquinas, and take on the #RV Golden Eagles from Cornerstone. The Cardinals fell in a close one to Aquinas 4-3, and came up short against the Golden Eagles 6-1.  

 

Concordia 3 – Aquinas 4

The Cardinals took the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. Isabella Macquet and Elle Fritcha won the top match 6-4, while Jacey Powell and Savannah Borrego took the third match 7-5. Hollie Johnson and Jadyn Hackmann lost a close #2 match 6-7.

 

Elle Fritcha won the #2 Singles match (7-6, 6-4) with Hollie Johnson securing the final Cardinal point in #5 Singles (6-4, 6-1). In the top match Isabella Macquet put up a fight, falling (4-6, 2-6). Jacey Powell played in the sixth slot and fell in a closely contested match (6-7, 4-6). Jules Meads took four games in the fourth slot while Savannah Borrego took a pair in the third position.

 

Concordia 1 – #RV Cornerstone 6

Cornerstone took all three doubles matches, sweeping Elle Fritcha and Isabella Macquet in the top match and Jules Meads and Makayla Steinmetz in the third slot. Jadyn Hackmann and Hollie Johnson took a game in the second position before falling.

 

Jacey Powell earned the lone Cardinal point with a forfeit win in the sixth slot. The Golden Eagles limited the Cardinals to two or less games won in the remaining singles matches. Elle Fritcha and Jules Meads both took a pair of games in the #2 and #4 positions respectively. Isabella Macquet and Savannah Borrego both took a game in the top and third slot while Hollie Johnson was swept in the #5 match.

 

The team will enter the postseason with the WHAC Tournament taking place on Friday, April 26th in Midland, Michigan.
