Dance tops program record score at Battle in the Big Easy

(New Orleans, LA) The Concordia Dance Team went down south for the Battle in the Big Easy, hosted by Xavier University. The team competed in a pair of duals, winning both, and took second place in the group competition out of six teams. Once again, the team scored a new program high with an 84.73 in their final performance of the event.

 

Loyola Dual – 78.33 – 1st of 2 Teams

The Cardinals kicked off the event with a dual against Loyola. The dual was Loyola's first comp of the year, while the Cardinals came in averaging 73.75 on the season. The Cards nearly added five whole points to their season average with a performance rating of 78.33. Loyola recorded a score of 61.95, which resulted in the Cardinals winning the dual.

 

Group Competition – 77.10 – 2nd of 6 Teams

The Cardinals went up against six other squads in the dance group competition. Concordia took second place with a score of 77.10. They were only outscored by the eighth highest scoring team in the NAIA, Cumberlands, with an 80.53. Dillard (70.70) finished in third place, followed by Our Lady of the Lake (68.80), Loyola (65.13), and Montreat (47.03).

 

Dillard Dual – 84.73 – 1st of 2 Teams

In the Cardinals' final performance of the event, they posted their highest score in program history, with an 84.73. The high mark was nearly 20 points better than Dillard, who was in their first event of the season.

 

 

Next up for the Cardinals is the WHAC Championship on Friday, February 17th. The event will be hosted by Madonna at noon in Livonia, Michigan.
