NAIA PREVIEW: Dance set for first NAIA Championship appearance

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Dance Team will be competing this upcoming weekend at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Dance National Championship. The Cardinals earned a host berth to the event, posting program high scores throughout the season and securing their first trip to the Championship in program history.

The NAIA Championship will feature 12 teams. Those teams include Aquinas (MI), Baker (KS), Concordia (MI), Doane (NE), Grand View (IA), Loyola (LA), Midland (NE), Morningside (IA), Oklahoma City, St. Ambrose (IA), Thomas More (KY), and Viterbo (WI). 

 

Teams will compete for the NAIA Championship with each team performing two routines. The first routine will be the preliminary round on Friday which will count toward 25% of the overall score. Saturday's final round score will make up 75% of the overall score. In the event of a tie, the score from finals will be used to break the tie. 

 

2022 RESULTS

Winning their first ever competitive dance championship last season was Morningside after posting a score of 92.31. The top three was rounded out by St. Ambrose (92.17) and Midland (84.03). 

 

2022-23 SEASON REVIEW

The Cardinals kicked off the year with a program record score in their home and season opener with a 73.60. Concordia continued to top that score throughout the season, culminating with an 84.73 at the Battle in the Big Easy.
