NAIA CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: Dance heads to third straight National Championship

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals are preparing for their third straight appearance at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships on Friday and Saturday. 

 

The Cardinals earned a bid into the National Championships winning their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championship in program history.

The NAIA Championship will feature 11 other teams from across the country. The other teams joining the Cardinals will be Oklahoma City, Doane (NE), Baker (KS), Viterbo (WI), Aquinas (MI), Morningside (IA), St. Ambrose (IA), Our Lady of the Lake (TX), Midland (NE), Saint Mary (KS), and Grand View (IA).

 

The event will feature two rounds, with teams competing once on each day of the competition. The preliminary round will count towards 25% of the overall score, while the final round will make up the remaining 75%. In the event of a tie, the score from the final will be used to break the tie. 

 

2024 RESULTS

St. Ambrose edged out Midland by 0.36 points to win their second straight NAIA Championship after ending the tournament with a total score of 92.49, the second-highest ever score in the National Championship. 

 

The Cardinals finished in 11th place last season with a final score of 75.23.

 

2024-25 SEASON REVIEW

The Cardinals have competed in seven events this season, with six of them counting towards their season average of 82.88. The Cardinals have finished first in four events this season.  

 

Multiple Cardinals earned WHAC honors this season as they were highlighted by Gabrielle Jeziorski winning WHAC Dancer of the Year and Head Coach Beth Strom earning WHAC Coach of the Year. Jeziorski was joined by Kiersten Hofmann on the WHAC First Team All-Conference, while Makenna Burke was named to the WHAC Second Team All-Conference for the third time.
