Women's Golf finishes season at the WHAC Championships

(Augusta, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Golf teed off at their final event of the season as they competed over the past two days at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships at Stonehedge Golf Course in Augusta, Michigan. The team as a whole would finish the tournament in 10th place after shooting 1105. 

 

CUAA RESULTS

Rachel Yuhas once again took the top spot for the Cardinals after a 36th-place finish with a score of 271 and shooting a one-round low of 89. Callie Wabeke would finish the tournament in 40th place as she shot 274. Both Amelia Black and Elle Fritcha shot 280. The final golfer was Lilly Alaspa as she shot 367 over the three rounds. 

 

ENTERING THE RECORD BOOKS

The Cardinals team score of 1105 was a program record as they set another program record for the second straight week. 

 

Rachel Yuhas shot the fourth-lowest score for a 3-round event with her score of 271. Callie Wabeke entered right behind her with the fifth-lowest score at 274. Amelia Black and Elle Fritcha each tallied 280 which is the seventh-lowest score. 

 

TOURNAMENT RECAP

Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) took home both the individual and the team WHAC Championship. The team would earn their third straight championship after shooting 917 and winning the title by 41 strokes. 

 

In the individual race for champion UNOH placed four golfers in the top six overall as Zoe Wuermli came out on top with a 224, which was five shots better than her teammate.
