Women's Hockey falls in weekend opener against Penn State

It was a hard-fought game between the Cardinals from Concordia University Ann Arbor and the Lions from Penn State University. In the end the Lions would take the game from the Cardinals 6-4.

 

The lions were off to a quick start, scoring a goal in the first 6 minuets of the game. The Cardinals answered with tough defense. After drawing a power play within the last two minutes of the period. The Cardinals were able to capitalize on the power play when Sydney Schuyler received a pass from Kassidy Scheben, ending the period at a score of one and one.

 

The Cardinals came out strong I the second period. After drawing another power play Sydney Schuyler, Grace Dodgson, and Aaliyah James worked together to put the puck in the back of the net. The cardinal's stellar offense granted them another goal when Grace Dodgson skated from coast to coast draining the puck in the net. With the Lions scoreless in the second the period ended with a score of 3-1.

 

The Lions came out fighting in the third period, scoring within the first minute. The cardinals fought hard but the Lions scored four more times in the period. This ended the game with a score of Lions 6, Cardinals 4. The Cardinals will face the Lions again Saturday night with puck drop scheduled for 6pm.
