Women's Hockey 21-22 Season comes to an end in 7-2 loss to Miami (OH)

(Ann, Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University Women's Hockey team returned to the ice for the final time of the 21-22 season as they took on the #12 RedHawks of Miami of Ohio on Saturday evening. The Cardinals came in with a 2-23 record and a 1-10 record in conference, while the Red Hawks were 10-9-2 and 7-4 in the conference. 

 

During the pregame festivities, the Cardinals honored their four seniors as Erika Hansen, Breanna Sheridan, Hannah Sickmiller, and Kim Mills all played their final game in a Cardinal uniform. 

 

The first period saw a lot of action in both goals and penalties as both teams would get called for four penalties and the Red Hawks would grab three goals to the Cardinals one. The Cardinal's goal came off the stick of Emma Shore and would beat the goalie to the right side of the net. Aaliyah James would tally an assist on the play. 

 

Throughout the second period, the Cardinals would battle their way on power-play opportunities, while not scoring on those, they would pick one up as Grace Dodgson would score short-handed five minutes into the period. The RedHawks would pick up two late-period goals to extend their lead to 5-2. 

 

The final period saw the Cardinals get outscored 2-0. The Cardinals would see a couple of opportunities to score from a multitude of players, but in the end, would not be able to find the back of the net.

 

Goalie Molly Burks would play the full 60 minutes in the net and wound up racking 43 saves on 50 shots. 

 

This game will officially close the books on the 2021-22 Cardinal Women's Hockey season as they look to keep improving towards next season.
