Women's Hockey drops 2 games at Colorado

(Boulder, CO) - The Concordia University Women's Hockey team headed west for their latest series traveling out to Colorado for a two-game series against the Buffalos.

Game 1 -- Colorado 3, Concordia 1

The first game of the weekend came on Friday evening as the Cardinals would play close with Colorado the entire game before falling by a score of 3-1.

Neither team would be able to score in the back and forth the first period as the shots were especially even at 10-9 with a slight Buffalos advantage.

The second period saw much of the same with both teams being solid on both ends of the ice. The Cardinals though would strike first in the game as Grace Dodgson would notch her 17th goal of the season 9 minutes in. With a minute and a half left in the match, Colorado would be able to even up the score at 1.

The final period saw Colorado taking the lead 4 minutes in. Having a 6-5 advantage on the ice would be the final nail in the coffin as the Cardinals pulled goalie Amanda Crundwell and the Buffalos would pick up their third goal of the game.

Game 2 -- Colorado 5, Concordia 2

The second game saw more scoring from both sides as the Buffalos would grab the 5-2 win over the Cardinals.

The first period saw both teams grab a goal as Grace Dodgson grabbed her 18th goal of the season. Colorado would score on a penalty shot following a delay of game penalty by the Cards.

The middle period saw Colorado take the advantage, scoring twice to Concordia's one goal. The Cardinals goal in the period came on a pass from Aaliyah James as she made a pass to Dodgson for the power-play goal. Colorado would score twice in the final period in order to secure the win.

Amanda Crundwell played the full 60 minutes in the net as she would save 25 shots on the evening.

The Cardinals will be back in action next when they return to the Arctic Coliseum on Thursday, January 27 with the first game of a home-and-home with Indiana Tech with puck drop at 8:30 PM.
