Women's Hockey drops first game against Miami (OH)

(Ann, Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University Women's Hockey team took the ice on Friday evening against the Red Hawks of Miami of Ohio. The Cards came in at 2-22 and 1-9 in the conference, while Miami was 9-9-2 and 6-4 in the conference. 

 

The Red Hawks took the early lead in the period scoring twice in the first period on goalie Amanda Crundwell, before picking up a third with six minutes remaining in the period. The Cardinals did have several opportunities in the period. 

 

The second period started with the Red Hawks taking advantage of a Concordia penalty and were able to grab the 4-0 lead. Four minutes later Miami would pick up their fifth goal of the evening. Halfway into the period, Emma Shore received a pass from Grace Dodgson who was able to put it in the back of the net for the first goal of her Cardinal career. At the 5:32 mark, Dodgson would add another point in the game scoring her 20th goal of the season after getting a pass from Emily Greer

 

The third period would see its first action in the 4th minute as the Red Hawks would add onto their lead to make it 6-2. The Cards would fail to take advantage of a couple of power-play opportunities despite multiple chances. 

 

Crundwell would play the full 60 minutes in net allowing 6 goals while notching 35 saves on the evening. 

 

The Cardinals will close out their 21-22 season tomorrow night, January 19, as they will honor their 4 seniors with the game beginning at 10:30 pm.
