Women's Soccer Adds Woodruff, Thom, and Putnam For 2016

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Women's Soccer team is pleased to announce the signings of Adrienne Woodruff, Jenna Thom, and Olyvia Putnam for the upcoming 2016 season.

Adrienne Woodruff earned three varsity letters in soccer at Walled Lake Northern. In 2014 she was named to the KLAA North All-District and All-Conference Teams as her team won their first KLAA North District Championship in school history. Her team repeated the honor in 2015. Adrienne is the daughter of Thomas and Deborah Woodruff and the sister of Alex Woodruff. She has also stood out academically and has been a regular on the Walled Lake Northern Honor Roll.

Jenna Thom played her high school soccer at Livonia Stevenson High School. There she was named to the 2015 All-KLAA team as well as her All-District Team. Jenna was honored as the team MVP for her performance as a senior. Jenna is the daughter of Richard and Jennifer and has a sister, Julia.

Adrienne played in National League from 2013-2015 with Jenna joining her in 2015. The club won the Midwest Regional League and the MSYAA State Cup in 2015 to advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championship. The team was also the semi-finalist in the US Youth Soccer Region 2 Championship this past year.

Coach Shelton is eager to add both players to the Cardinal team, "We are extremely excited that Adrienne and Jenna have chosen to continue playing at Concordia. Both players bring an impressive soccer resume and have played at the very highest levels of club soccer. They are similar in the sense that they bring size and skill to our back line, but are also very calm on the ball. Adrienne also has the ability to move into a holding midfield role if we need her to, which makes us a lot more flexible. They have already played a year together in National League, which means they are extremely familiar which each other already. We look for both Jenna and Adrienne to be big time players for us next year."

Olyvia Putnam is from Zeeland Michigan and has been playing soccer since elementary school. She has played for the West Michigan travel club, United Soccer Athletes (USA), for the past six years. She has also been a starter on her high school varsity team since her freshman year. As a junior she was voted All-conference Honorable Mention and has been the selected to be the captain of several teams throughout her playing career. Olyvia is excited to have a strong finish to her high school career and can't wait to start her college career at Concordia.

"We are very excited to have Olyvia join our Concordia Soccer Family," Coach Shelton commented. "She is able to play multiple positions in the middle of the field and brings a great deal of size and skill to the game. She is a player that we are looking to make a big impact right away. On top of that she is a solid individual and represents the type of student-athletes that we love here at Concordia."
