WHAC Preview: Men's Golf tees off at WHAC Spring Invitational

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinal's men's golf team is set to compete in their final match of the season as they prepare for the WHAC Championships which is being played today and tomorrow.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS

The Cardinals enter the WHAC Championships with a team average of 329 a round. The Cardinals will have six golfers represent them at the event as Neil Heinlein, Chase Temple, Andrew Sweitzer, Zakary Schroeder, Joshua Line, and Gibson Wilke will take part at the event. 

 

The Cardinals have seen success throughout the season as they recently saw two program's record lows set by freshman Chase Temple as he posted a 1-round 68 and a 2-round 145 in the first round of the Pilot Invitational last week. The team's score of 633 was also the second lowest in the program's history. 

 

The Cardinals competed at Stoatin Brae two weeks ago at the Battle of the Brae and finished in 11th place in a competition full of fellow WHAC teams. The Cardinals finished the 2-round event with a total score of 638, which is the third-lowest in the program's history.

WHAC PREVIEW

Lawrence Tech has the lowest season average on the year with 299.0, followed closely by UNOH at 301.4. Those two are ahead of Madonna in third with a 305.9 average on the year. The top individual golfer in the conference thus far has been Michael Robson from UNOH, who is averaging 73.5 strokes per round played. 

 

WHAC HISTORY

Lawrence Tech took home the title last season after a tie with UNOH at the tournament. Both teams came into the clubhouse with an 883, but it was the Blue Devils who won the event on the first hole of the playoff. 

 

Concordia finished in 11th place last spring with a score of 998, just 5 strokes short of breaking into the top ten.
