Men's Outdoor competes at the Mike Becraft Invite
(Ada, OH) Concordia men's track & field competed this weekend at the 2nd annual Mike Becraft Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University. Concordia earned two National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) qualifying times and several personal best marks while taking 8th place as team. 
 
Qualifying for NCCAA's in both of his individual events was freshman Jeremiah Salas (Decatur, MI). Salas ran 11.19 in the 100m dash for a 2nd place finish and 22.48 in the 200m dash, both personal best times for Salas. Jordan Foy (Colombia, SC), Kash Warren (Lorain, OH) and Noah Starkey (Macomb, MI) joined Salas for the 6th place 4x100 relay, running 43.25. Foy also competed in the 100m dash with a personal time of 11.95. Starkey competed in the open 400m, running 52.86. Warren competed the 100m and 200m dash, running 11.42 and 22.87, respectively. Freshman Maurice Kado (Beechwood, OH) joined the squad in the 100m dash, running 11.89 for a personal best time. Kado went on to jump 5.20m in the long jump. Sprinters Logan Hay (Houston, TX) and Andrew Wiemer (Meridian, ID) competed in the 200m dash with Logan running 23.53 and Weimer running 24.73. Weimer went on to run a personal best time of 54.09 in the 400m race. The sprints squad of Weimer, Starkey, Logan and Michael Brannan (Dearborn Heights, MI) closed out their events running 3:38.25 in the 4x400 relay.
 
Brannan kicked things off for the distance squad in the 800m race, running 2:15.69. Also running the 800m was Luke Bentz (Fort Wayne, IN), Adam Dahl (Owosso, MI) and Noah Finley (Monroe, MI). The trio ran 2:09.57, 2:33.87 and 2:34.08, respectively. In addition to his personal best time in the 800m event, Dahl also ran a personal best in the 400m, running 59.12. Bentz and Finley went on to compete in the 1,500m race together, with Bentz crossing the finish line with a time of 4:23.90 and Finley with a time of 5:34.70. Rounding out the distance squad was junior Avery Sanchez (Allen Park, MI) who competed in the 3,000m steeplechase.  Sanchez ran a near personal best time of 11:24.07 for a 4th place finish. 
 
In the field events, senior Richard Branch (Detroit, MI) heaved the javelin 47.15m for a 2nd place finish and threw 13.00m in the shot put for a 7th place finish. Freshman Scott Smith (Saginaw, MI) also competed with Branch, throwing 37.17m with the javelin and 11.92m in the shot put. Depth in the shot put continued with Zachary Belinsky (Beulah, MI), Jordan Ponce (Milan, MO), ToRohn Yancey (Detroit, MI) and Mason Wyllis (Holt, MI) competing in the same event. The quartet threw 11.93m, 9.89m, 11.29m, and 8.41m, respectively. The men's discus throw saw personal bests across the board for all five Cardinals in the event (Belinsky - 33.43m, Yancey - 27.94m, Ponce - 28.28m, Ethan Szabados (Brownstown, MI) - 28.76m, and Joshua Wood (Champagne, IL) - 24.57m). Yancey and Wood would continue to see success in the hammer throw with personal best marks of 30.80m and 24.17m, respectively. Belinsky heaved the hammer 37.47m.
 
Rounding out the field events was senior Zachary Yoder (Mt. Pleasant, MI), clearing 1.75m in the high jump for an 8th place finish.
