WHAC Preview: Men's Track & Field hosts the Conference Tournament

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Concordia Cardinals men's outdoor track and field team is set to compete at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference meet this weekend as they will host the Championships for the first time.

Field Events

Multiple Cardinals will be competing in the field events this upcoming weekend as they will see competitors in the Hammer Throw, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, and Javelin. 

 

Hammer Throw will be one of the throw events for the weekend as Josh Wood, ToRohn Yancey, and Zachary Belinsky are the three competitors for the Cardinals.

 

Two Cardinals have competed in the High Jump event this season as Zachary Yoder is seeded eighth with a jump of 1.83 meters

 

Another jumping event for the Cardinals is Moe Kado as he is in the Long Jump event. Kado competes in the first heat of the event and has a long jump of 5.29 meters.

 

In the Shot Put, Concordia will send out four throwers for the event as Scott Smith, ToRohn Yancey, Zachary Belinski, and Richard Branch. Branch leads the group with a throw of 13.93 meters. 

 

The final throw event that the Cardinals will have competitors in will be the Javelin Throw. The Cards will have five throwers led by Richard Branch with a throw of 52.87 meters. The four other competitors will be Adam Dahl, Mason Wylis, Scott Smith, and Michael Brannan.

 

Track Events

Throughout the track events, nine different events will see Cardinal competition hit the track in both the sprint and long-distance races. 

 

Starting off the day on the track is the 3200-meter relay with a team of Luke Bentz, Theodore Eising, Avery Sanchez, and Michael Brannan

 

Another running event on Thursday is the 100-meter prelims that will see nine runners advance to the second day of events, which will comprise of the top runner in each heat with the next four best times also advancing. Moe Kado, Jeremiah Salas, and Kash Warren. Salas leads the trio with a seeded time of 11.13 seconds. 

 

On Friday, in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Avery Sanchez will be the sole competitor for the Cardinals as he enters with a time of 11:04.17, 

 

The 400-meter relay will see Jordan Foy, Jeremiah Salas, Noah Starkey, and Kash Warren all compete in the nine-team event. They enter with a time of 43.19. Starkey will also compete in the 400-meter dash as the only Cardinal and enters with a time of 52.86 seconds. 

 

The 1500-meter race will see Noah Finley, Luke Bentz, and Theodore Eising compete between the first and second heat as Bentz leads the team with a 4:19.69 time. 

 

The 800-meter run will see three different Cardinals run in that race as Noah Finley, Adam Dahl, and Michael Brannan will run. The top runner for the Cardinals in that event is Brannan with a time of 2:11.87.

 

Once again the 200-meter race will have three runners compete, Logan Hay, Jeremiah Salas, and Kash Warren all running. Salas is the top runner in that group as he leads it with a time of 22.46 seconds. 

 

The final event of the day is the 1600-meter relay with a team of Noah Starkey, Logan Hay, Andrew Weimer, and Michael Brannan all running the relay. They enter with a seeded time of 3:38.25
