Track & Field competes at NCCAA Championships
(Greenville, IL) Concordia men's track & field competed this week at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) championships hosted by Greenville University. The Cardinals placed 16th out of 23 teams.
 

Senior Richard Branch Jr. (Detroit, MI) earned All-American accolades with a toss of 52.27m for a 3rd place finish in the javelin throw. He also competed in the shot put, throwing 11.88m. Freshman Scott Smith (Saginaw, MI) threw 41.00m with the javelin. Throwing in the men's discus finals, Zachary Belinsky (Beulah, MI) heaved a personal best toss of 35.59m. Belinsky also competed in the hammer throw where he had a toss of 36.95m. 

 

Senior Kash Warren (Lorain, OH) set the stage on the track, opening with a personal best time of 22.18 in the 200m dash. This time ties the current outdoor 200m school record at Concordia. Warren also competed in the 100m dash, running 11.08. Running in the same two events, freshman Jeremiah Salas (Decatur, MI) ran 11.16 in the 100m dash and 22.28 in the 200m dash. The duo competed in the 4x100m relay alongside Jordan Foy (Freshman; Colombia, SC) and Noah Starkey (Macomb, MI). The relay raced to a 7th place in a time of 42.92, an all-time number two time at Concordia. Freshman Logan Hay (Houston, TX) competed in the 200m, running 23.64.
 

The 4x800m relay team comprised of Luke Bentz (Fort Wayne, IN), Avery Sanchez (Allen Park, MI), Mike Brannan (Dearborn Heights, MI), and Andrew Weimer (Meridian, ID) finished 7th with a time of 8:36.24. Brannan also competed in the men's javelin throw with a best toss of 36.24m for the day. 

 

The 4x400m relay closed out the meet with Warren, Weimer, Hay and Starkey, running 3:31.67 for 7th place, missing the school record by one second.
