SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Cross Country

SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Cross Country

The Concordia Cardinals Men's Cross country will kick off their season September 1st at the Comet open hosted by Olivet College in Olivet, MI.

Head Coach Dominic Santina opens up his second season as the head coach of Concordia's men's and women's programs and had this to say about the upcoming season.

"I have grown more excited over the coming weeks about our Men's teams. We were lucky enough that Avery Sanchez decided to come back for a fifth year, so our Men's team also lost nobody. We have had Teddy Eising and Adam Fisch put in some great training over the summer, which we hope translates to this fall. Then we added three recruits that can help us solidify our core and make us faster. Micah Bauer is an awesome late addition that can really improve our team and time will tell what he can do here at CUAA. Nathan Milliman and Dominic Catallo who have a learning curve with the 8k ahead, but I feel confident saying they will work hard to figure it out and can become contributing pieces for us."

Santina will be joined this year by Graduate Assistant Ryan Excell and Volunteer Coach Madeline Santina.

Concordia Personnel

The Cardinals return six runners who competed last fall. Luke Bentz, a junior this year, ran in five meets and had a team-best 18:02.4 race time. Seniors this year are Theodore Eising, Avery Sanchez, and Noah Starkey. Eising and Sanchez both improved in their 5k and 8k times last year and had personal bests. Adam Fisch and Jared Stiver will also be returning. The team will be adding three freshman, Dominic Catallo, Nathan Milliman, and Micah Bauer, all eager to start their collegiate athlete experience.

Last year the Cardinals opened with four personal bests and continued to keep setting personal bests throughout the season and placed third at the Cardinal invite.
