Women's Lacrosse wins match against rival Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) - Concordia women's lacrosse traveled to rival Siena Heights on a wet Saturday afternoon to continue WHAC play. The Cardinals pulled ahead in the first quarter and never looked back in an 11-5 victory.

 

Michaela Ullery played the entire game in the net making 9 saves and tying Alana Mortimer with a team-high 6 ground balls. Madeline Turcotte opened the scoring with an unassisted goal. Siena Heights tied the game 1-1, but the Cardinals pulled ahead when Tara Drinane scored off a feed from Turcotte. Brynn O'Neil had an unassisted marker and McKenna VanZant tallied twice. Cecelia Gibson scored with eighteen seconds left to put CUAA up 6-1 after the first quarter.

Siena Heights scored early in the second quarter but Cecelia Gibson countered with her second goal. Madeline Turcotte notched her second marker and Isabella Komarowski converted on a free-position shot. CUAA held a 9-2 lead at halftime.

 

Siena Heights scored first in the third quarter, but Savanna Schmidt answered fifteen seconds later with Isabella Komarowski assisting. Brynn O'Neil recorded her second goal of the game on a free position shot to put CUAA ahead 11-3 after the third quarter.

The Cardinal defense held strong in the fourth quarter limiting Siena Heights to two goals to secure the 11-5 victory.

 

Concordia will travel to Aquinas this Wednesday, April 3rd, for a game at 1pm.
