(Ypsilanti, MI) Concordia Women's Tennis returned to the courts Saturday afternoon for another nonconference match against Franklin College. The Grizzlies came out on top with a 5-2 victory over the Cardinals.
Franklin took all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. Jadyn Hackmann and Hollie Johnson fell 3-6 in the top match, while Sydney Orkisz and Melanie Foucha took a pair in the third match. Savannah Borrego and Jules Meads had the closest doubles match, going down 5-7 in the second slot.
The Cardinals won a pair of closely contested singles matches, starting with Jules Meads in the second match (7-6, 6-4). Jadyn Hackmann earned Concordia's second point in the third slot (6-3, 2-6, 10-4). Savannah Borrego took 5 games in her first set of the top match before falling and Hollie Johnson took 6 in her loss in the fourth match. Makayla Steinmetz fell in the fifth slot, but not before coming away with 5 games, and Sydney Orkisz picked up 3 games in her sixth match.
The Cardinals will remain at home for their next match when they will host Concordia Chicago on Saturday, September 28th.
