(Grand Rapids, MI) Concordia Women's Tennis headed to the west side of the state Wednesday afternoon for a makeup match against the Grace Christian Tigers. The Cardinals came out strong, winning the match 6-1 in the end.
Concordia won the doubles point, as they were victorious in all three matches. Jacey Powell and Sarah Eggelmeyer won the top match 6-4, while Savannah Borrego and Makayla Steinmetz took the second match 6-2. In the third doubles match Amelia Black and Sydney Orkisz swept their opponents to win 6-0.
Jacey Powell took the top singles match in convincing fashion (6-3, 6-0). Savannah Borrego won a hard fought second match (6-4, 7-5) to get the Cardinals their third point. Makayla Steinmetz won her match in the third slot (6-2, 6-3). Sydney Orkisz won the fifth singles match, limiting her Tigers opponent to just three games (6-1, 6-2). Mara Strock earned the sixth and final point for the Cardinals, winning (6-3, 6-1). Sarah Eggelmeyer fell in the fourth slot for the Cardinals, still taking 5 games from her opponent.
The Cardinals will be at home on Friday, April 11th for a conference match against Cornerstone. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at the Chippewa Racquet Club.
