NAIA PREVIEW: Women's Track and Field's Korte prepared for Shot Put Event

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Women's Indoor Track and Field team will be sending one athlete to the

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship this weekend as Cardinal Lena Korte will be competing in the Shot Put event on Saturday.

KORTE'S NUMBERS

Korte has improved in her throws at nearly each meet this winter by setting a school record in the shot put event almost every time as well. Her best throw of the season was at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championship back on February 18 with a toss of 13.40 meters.

Korte hit the NAIA B Standard back on February 4th with a throw of 13.11 meters at the Mrs. G Invitational. Korte currently sits at 23rd in the NAIA.

THE REST OF THE FIELD

There will be a total of 34 athletes competing in the shot put event at the NAIA Championship. The top throw of the season was from Jaunita Webster-Freeman from fellow WHAC school Indiana Tech with a toss of 14.97 meters. The only other WHAC athlete that is competing in the event is Aquinas' Rebecca Beltran.
