Lena Korte finishes 17th at NAIA National Championships

(Brookings, SD) Lena Korte (SO/Clinton, MI) wrapped up her record setting season with a 17th place finish in the shot put at the NAIA Women's Track & Field Indoor National Championships.

"Lena has had an incredible season. It's amazing to think that less than a year ago she tore her ACL and has been able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time," CUAA Track & Field throws coach Danielle McGuiness said. "This was her first time qualifying for NAIA championships and our goal for the meet was really to get a feel for what it's like to compete on such a stage."

Korte was seeded 21st coming into the meet and was able to finish third in the first flight to ultimately finish 17th out of 30 women with a throw of 13.05 meters.

"Lena is an incredible student-athlete with a strong competitive drive. She's had to navigate how to move with a new knee in such a short amount of time. This indoor season she broke her own school records seven times and that's largely in part because of her dedication to rehab. We're already looking ahead to outdoor season and I can't wait to see what she can accomplish this spring."

Women's track & field kicks off their outdoor season Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic, hosted by Spring Arbor University.
