Men’s Hockey lights up the scoreboard in win over Rochester

(Canton, MI) — Men's hockey hosted the Rochester Warriors on Friday evening at the Arctic Edge Arena in Canton, Michigan. There would be plenty of goals scored on both sides and Concordia would pick up the win by the final score of 7-4. 

 

The first period saw Rochester crack the scoreboard first a little more than halfway through the first period. Cole Zelewski was responsible for the goal, getting an assist from Kyle Banks and Anthony Cosner. Bubba Kukla scored the second goal for the Warriors with an assist from Caden Pachota with less than 4 minutes to go in the frame.

 

After Rochester got out to a 2-0 lead, the Cardinals would score 5 unanswered goals with the first 2 coming in the last 4 minutes of the first period. The first goal for the Cards was scored by Quinn Bieniek (assisted by Chase Temple and Sam Sahr) and the second coming from Garrett Benoit (with assists from Brandon Troyer and Seth Francios).

 

With the game tied at two goals a piece, Concordia would finish their scoring run with 3 more goals in the second period. The first would come off the stick of Jackson Blough. Blough would be assisted by Brandon Troyer and Seth Francios, who would pick up his second of three assists on the night. Concordia's fourth goal would come on a power play from Carson Ediger with assists from Seth Francios and Hunter Kepple

 

The final goal of this dominating run would by shot by Kyle Hebner and was assisted by Zane Rydel and Hunter Kepple. The Warriors would then make a dent in the lead with a goal from Bubba Kukla to make the score 5-3 going into the final period.

 

The third period would have the first 15 minutes go without a goal, the longest goal-free stretch since early in the first period. Then the Cardinals would tack on another goal, this one from Brandon Troyer (assisted by Garrett Benoit), to make the lead increase to three goals. 

 

Rochester would score their final goal of the game. Their fourth goal of the game would come from Cole Zelewski who would get assists from Kyle Banks and Anthony Cosner. The final goal of the game would be scored by Brandon Troyer after the Warriors had emptied their net to make the score 7-4.

 

Anthony Carlier (0-15-0) would give up 6 of the 7 goals while recording a whopping 63 saves. Meanwhile Nolan Foster (1-0-0) would save 28 of 32 shots. 

 

The Cardinals will look for a series sweep tomorrow at 3:30 PM at the Big Boy Arena in Fraser, MI.
