Baseball extends win streak to 18 on Hall of Fame gameday

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Baseball hosted their 2025 Hall of Fame Class Saturday afternoon as they welcomed Cleary to town for another WHAC doubleheader. Concordia battled back in both games and pushed their win streak to 18 as they took down the Cougars twice. They won 10-3 in game one before a tight 4-3 win in game two.

Game 1: Concordia 10 - Cleary 3

Trey Acker took the mound in game one for the Cardinals. The junior went four innings allowing three earned runs while striking out five. Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys threw two innings of shutout ball while only allowing one hit. Kyle Winslow came on to close things out in the seventh inning and threw up a zero to hold down the 10-3 win.

Cleary got things started quickly with a two run home run in the first inning. They then scored again in the third inning when Joey Parinello added his third RBI of the day on a single. That did not last quickly after Derek Hebner walked with the bases loaded to bring home scoring Tyler Lawson. The next batter Josh Burke hit a grand slam to score himself, Derek Hebner, Clayton McKinstry, and Jake Kuhlman

In the fifth inning Derek Hebner homered to center field to add insurance runs and make the score 7-3. Jake Kuhlman singled in the sixth inning to score Harrison Ryan. Derek Hebner then added his fourth and fifth RBI's of the game with a two-RBI single to score Kuhlman and Matthew Dubrick. The 10-3 lead was enough for Winslow to close the game out and push their win streak to 17.

Game 2: Concordia 4 - Cleary 3

Logan Morris started game two on the mound, and only allowed one earned run through 5.1 innings pitched. Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys came on once again to throw the remaining 3.2 innings and didn't give up a run while compiling his second save of the season.

Cleary started things off hot again quickly when Brendan Seman hit an RBI single to put the Cougars up 1-0. In the bottom of the second inning the Cardinals were able to respond. Tyler Wressel launched a ball off the batter's eye for a double to score Josh Burke. Gus Simon later hit an RBI single to score Tyler Lawson and give the Cardinals their first leader. Harrison Ryan hit his 100th career college knock as he hit a double to the right field fence to score Simon and put CUAA up 3-1.

In the fourth inning Alex Piotrowski singled to score Lawson and give the Cardinals a 4-1 lead. Cleary was able to score one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to put the score at 4-3. Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys shut it down for the remaining three innings to push the Cardinal win streak to 18 and put CUAA at a 29-5 record after 34 games this season.

The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow for Senior Day on Cardinal field, with game one starting at 1pm and festivities taking place after the nightcap of the doubleheader.
