Georgetown defeats Men's Soccer 7-1

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's soccer hosted Georgetown on Monday afternoon for a home contest.  The Cardinals entered with a 2-2 overall record while the Tigers came in a perfect 4-0.  CUAA battled hard with Alexander Valencia notching a goal on the day, but Georgetown claimed a 7-1 win.

Kyri Wixom started in goal for the Cardinals, notching 6 saves.  Georgetown showed they were a strong team from the start, controlling play in the offensive end and going up 5-0.  Concordia threatened later in the half with corner kicks taken by Ignacio Garcia and Luis Ramirez and a header by Luke Neuhaus going just wide.  However, CUAA trailed 6-0 at halftime.

Ryan Webb came in to play goalie in the second half, making 2 saves.  Georgetown added another goal, but the Cardinals got one back in the 89th minute.  Alexander Valencia had a shot go off of the crossbar and in to break the shutout and get CUAA on the board.  Georgetown claimed a 7-1 win as time expired.

Concordia will return to action on Friday, September 17 when they travel to Thomas More.  The game will be played at 7:30pm.
