Cardinals fall to UM-Dearborn at home 3-1

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia men's soccer team hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines in a WHAC contest this Friday afternoon. Although the game was tied at halftime, the Wolverines netted two goals in the second half to come away with the 3-1 win.

The first half started slower for both sides with neither side getting many quality looks at goal. The Wolverines opened up the scoring with a goal from Austin Dukes which came off of a throw in for UM-Dearborn. In the final minute of the first half Tanguy Flachez got past his defender and then was tripped in the 18-yard box to draw a penalty kick. Flachez beat the Wolverine keeper to the left to tie the game up at the half.

The Wolverines broke the tie when Christian Cole found the back of the net from inside the 18-yard box in what would eventually be the game winner. UM-Dearborn added an insurance goal with one minute remaining when Andrew Schwartz beat the Cardinal keeper to make it 3-1.

The Cardinals will be back in action on October 16th when they travel to Lawrence Tech. Kick off will be at 4:00 PM in Southfield, Michigan.
