Men's Tennis falls to Franklin and Cornerstone

Concordia Men's Tennis competed in a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday at Franklin and at home against Cornerstone. The Cardinals lost the match at Franklin 0-9, and lost the conference matchup against Cornerstone 0-7.

 

Match 1: Concordia 0, Franklin 9

The Grizzlies swept all three doubles matches for the three points. Phillip Curry and Ethan Hiltz took three games in #1 Doubles, while Andrew Todd and Ethan Szabados took on game in the #2 slot. The third doubles match was won by Franklin via default.

 

Phillip Curry sent the #1 Singles match to extra sets, ultimately falling (6-3, 3-6, 7-10). Ethan Szabados took a game in #2 Singles, Ethan Hiltz took four in #3 Singles, and Andrew Todd was swept in the #4 slot. The Grizzlies won #5 and #6 Singles by default.

 

 

Match 2: Concordia 0, Cornerstone 7

Cornerstone won the doubles point winning #1 Doubles (6-2) over Phillip Curry and Ethan Szabados and #2 Doubles (6-1) over Andrew Todd and Ethan Hiltz. The Golden Eagles also won #3 Doubles by default.

 

In singles, Phillip Curry was swept in the #1 slot. Ethan Szabados took a game in #2 Singles, Ethan Hiltz took five in #3 Singles, and Andrew Todd took a pair of games in the #4 slot. Cornerstone won the final two singles matches by default.

 

 

The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday with a match against Indiana Tech. The match is set for 12:30 at the Liberty Athletic Club in Ann Arbor.
