WHAC Preview: Men's Track and Field set to compete at WHAC Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Concordia Cardinals men's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference meet this weekend when it begins Friday afternoon.

Field Events

Multiple Cardinals will be competing in the field events this upcoming weekend as they will see competitors in the Weight Throw, Long Jump, and Shot Put.

 

The Weight Throw event will see Zachary Belinsky, Richard Branch, Scott Smith, ToRohn Yancey, and Joshua Wood all compete. Belinsky and Branch have been top competitors throughout the season with throws of 12.95m and 12.29m respectively. 

 

Two Cardinals have competed in the High Jump event this season as Zachary Yoder and Ethan Szabados have both jumped. Yoder has the fifth biggest jump in the WHAC coming in at 1.83m, while Szabados is at 1.70m. 

 

In the Shot Put, Concordia will send out six throwers led by Branch with a throw of 13.93. Following Branch are Belinsky, Yancey, Smith, Jordan Ponce, and Wood who will all also throw. 

 

Track Events

Throughout the track events, nine different Cardinals will hit the track in both the sprint and long-distance races. 

 

In the 60-meter dash, we will see Kash Warren, Jordan Foy, and Maurice Kado all take part in the prelims portion. Warren has had the top time on the team this season with a 7.24-second run. The 200-meter dash will once again be led by Warren at 23.03 seconds and right behind him is Jeremiah Salas with a run of 23.25 seconds. Other competitors in the 200-meter race are Logan Hay, Foy, Kado, and Andrew Wiemer

 

The long-distance races will feature four different runners seeing Noah Finley in the 1 mile, Luke Bentz in the 800 meters, Avery Sanchez in the 1000 meters, and Theodore Eising and Sanchez both participating in the 3000-meter race. 

 

The Cards will also have two teams run in the relay events as they will have the team of Finley, Bentz, Eising, and Sanchez compete together in the 4x800 meter relay. In the 4x400 meter relay as the team of Bentz, Hay, Wiemer, and Warren will all run in the final event of the race.
