WHAC PREVIEW: Men's Track and Field ready for WHAC Championships this weekend

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals men's track and field team is set for competition at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) meet this Friday and Saturday at Indiana Tech.

FIELD EVENTS

Cardinal field athletes will compete in four of the different events over the weekend. CUAA will see competitors in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Weight Throw. Overall they will see 6 different athletes compete. 

 

Competing in the Long Jump will be Ethan Doson and Moe Kado. Dodson's top jump of the season was a 5.69m jump, while Kado was not far behind at 4.46m. 

 

Scott Smith will participate in both the Triple Jump and Shot Put. He will be competing in the Triple Jump for the first time this season, while his top Shot Put throw was an 11.65m toss. 

 

Two more throwers will toss the Shot Put as we will also see Zachary Belinsky and Will Hall throw. Belinsky's top throw was a 12.76m toss, while Hall has an 11.33m throw. 

 

Belinsky and Hall will also compete in the Weight Throw as Josh Wood will also participate with them. Belinsky's top Weight Throw toss is 13.55m, Hall's is 12.49m and Wood claims a 9.88m throw. 

 


TRACK EVENTS

A total of six different running events will feature individual Cardinal athletes as there will also be a team in two of the relays. Concordia will see runners in the 60m, 200m, 600m, 800m, 1,000m, and 3,000m. They will also have teams run in the 4x800m relay and the 4x400m relay. 

 

Two Cardinals will take part in the 60m dash as Kado and Kash Warren will both race. Kado has a season-best time of 7.64, while Warren's time sits at 7.30. 

 

Kado and Warren will also race the 200m dash and joining those two are Elijah Boye and Noah Starkey. Kado comes in with a qualifying time of 25.5, while Warren's time sits at 23.47 seconds. Boye and Starkey come into the event with times of 25.09 and 22.53 respectively. 

 

Zak Schroeder will compete in the 600m run, which is his first race of the day. He has not run the race this season. 

 

Luke Bentz and Jared Stiver will take part in the 800m run as Bentz enters with a seeded time of 2:09.44 while Stiver will run with his qualified time of 2:38.82. 

 

Avery Sanchez will take part in the 1,000m run for the first time this season. 

 

In the final individual race three Cardinals will take part in the 3,000m run as Adam Fisch, Sanchez, and Theodore Eising will all run the race. The three Cardinals enter with times of 10:38.98, 9:58.01, and 9:45.30 respectively. 

 

The 4x800m race will see Eising, Sanchez, Bentz and Fisch. They competed last weekend and ran a time of 8:49.88 seconds.

 

The final race of the event will see the 4x400m team of Starkey, Bentz, Dodson, and Schroeder run the race. They competed last weekend at the NCCAA Championships and finished with a time of 3:38.74.
