Men's Track and Field finishes in 8th place at WHAC Championships

(Fort Wayne, IN) - The Men's Track and Field team competed at Indiana Tech for the WHAC Championships on Friday, February 17, and Saturday, February 18. The Cardinals earned an 8th-place finish with a total of 8 points. The team also had 7 personal records and 2 new collegiate marks.

The meet was highlighted by the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams. The 4x400 relay team of Zak Schroeder, Noah Starkey, Ethan Dodson, and Luke Bentz finished in fourth place while earning 5 points for the team with a time of 3:38.03.

The 4x800 relay team of Schroeder, Theodore Eising, Avery Sanchez, and Bentz finished in sixth place finish and three more points with a time of 8:34.89.

In running events, Eising, Sanchez, and Adam Fisch all recorded personal records in the 3000 meters. Eising led the way by finishing in 9:47, Sanchez followed in 9:57 and Fisch wrapped it up with a 10:21.

For sprinting events, Maurice Kado had a big weekend by running a personal record in both the 60- and 200-meter dash. Kado had finishing times of 7.52 and 25.01. Also competing in the 60 and the 200 was Kash Warren. He finished in 24.17 in the 200 and had a time of 7.30 in the 60. Starkey, Elijah Boye also competed in the 200-meter dash. Starkey led the team with a time of 22.95. Boye ran a new personal time of 25.03. Schroeder made his collegiate debut in the 600-meter dash, by finishing in 10th place with a time of 1:29.22.

The Cardinals also had a new collegiate mark for Scott Smith in the triple jump with a distance of 11.41 meters.

In the long jump, both Kado and Dodson competed for the Cardinals. Kado narrowly led the way with a distance of 5.56 meters, followed by Dodson with a jump of 5.54 meters.

In throwing events, Will Hall had a new personal record of 13.20 meters and finished in ninth place. Zachary Belinsky had a throw of 13.16 meters for 10th place. Josh Wood had a throw of 9.06 meters for 14 place finish.

In the shot put, Belinsky was the lead Cardinal in ninth place with a distance of 12.50 meters. Smith and Hall also competed in the shot put. Smith threw a distance of 11.47 meters, while Hall recorded a distance of 10.23 meters.

The team will take some well-deserved rest as the conference meet wraps up the indoor season. The team will return to competition at Spring Arbor on March 31 and April 1 for the Bill Bippes Classic to start their outdoor season.
