Men's Track and Field sees 1 NCCAA Qualifier and 6 PR's at the Mrs. G Invitational

(Angola, IN) - The men's track and field team traveled to Trine University for the Mrs. G's Invitational on Saturday, February 4. The team faced off against NAIA and NCAA Division 3 competition. The team came away with 6 personal records and 3 new collegiate marks.

In sprinting events, Noah Starkey finished in 6th place in the 400-meter dash with a personal record of 53.12 seconds. With the personal record, it also allowed Starkey to hit NCCAA qualifying for the second time. He has now qualified in the 200 and 400. Also competing in the 400 was Zak Schroeder who also ran a personal record of 54.78 seconds.

Starkey also took seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.28 seconds. Also competing in the 200-meter dash were Kash Warren, Mo Kado, and Elijah Boye. Warren finished in a time of 23.89 meters. While Kado returned to the 200 with a time of 25.95. Boye earned a personal record with a time of 25.54 seconds.

To wrap up sprinting events, Starkey led the way in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.37 seconds. Kado earned a personal record of 7.64 seconds. While Andrew Kozlowski made his collegiate debut with 8.28 seconds.

For the distance group, Avery Sanchez led the way with a big personal record in the mile, finishing in a time of 4:55. Adam Fisch also competed in the Mile and finished with a time of 5:21.

Sanchez, Fisch, Luke Bentz, and Jared Stiver all competed in the 800-meter dash. Bentz led the way with a 2:11, followed by Sanchez in 2:16, Fisch in 2:31, and Stiver who made his collegiate debut in 2:41.

Theodore Eising finished up the group's effort with a personal record in the 3000-meter race, finishing in a time of 9:52.

In field events, Ethan Dodson leads the way in the long jump with a distance of 5.49 meters. While Kado finished right behind with a distance of 5.46 meters.

In the weight throw, Zachary Belinksy led the way with a distance of 13.36 meters. Josh Wood was second for the Cardinals with a distance of 9.64 meters. Will Hall competed but had a rough event with not registering a distance.

In the shot put, Belinsky was the lead Cardinal once again with a distance of 12.46 meters. Scott Smith was second on the team with a distance of 10.98 meters. Hall wrapped up the team effort with a distance of 10.07 meters.

The team will head into championship season with the NCCAA Championships on Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11.
