Caleb O'Hara named Offensive Line Coach

The Concordia University Ann Arbor athletic department has named Caleb O'Hara as Offensive Line Coach for the Cardinal Football program. He will also serve as Field Goal/PAT special teams coach and coordinate football operations. O'Hara began his role at Concordia on August 1, 2020.

O'Hara comes to Concordia from St. Paul Lutheran School, just up the road from campus, where he was the 4th grade teacher, athletic director, and assistant principal since 2016. Prior to that, he taught for a year at Concordia Lutheran School in Redford, Michigan.

While teaching, O'Hara served as Defensive Line Coach for the Cardinals since 2013. O'Hara began working with the Concordia Football Program as a graduate assistant and has stayed on staff as a part time assistant coach since, earning his Masters in Educational Leadership in 2018. The Cleveland area native helped mentor and lead eight all-conference players in his seven years with Concordia and has turned the Cardinal defensive line into one of the best in the NAIA.

Head Football Coach Joshua Schumacher is excited to add O'Hara to his fulltime staff. "Coach O'Hara has been critical part of building up the program since 2013 when he started as a graduate assistant," said Schumacher. "Coach O'Hara is a servant leader, back in his days as a graduate assistant he would drive his van out to the grass field to bring water to practice. He is a great teacher and values relationships. We are excited for him to work with Coach Mike Glennie and the offensive line."

Besides moving over to the other side of the ball, O'Hara will have a slate of other responsibilities within the program. He will be in charge of travel and recruiting for the football program while also working with Offensive Coordinator Jonathan Coddington on game plan and analysis of opposing defenses. Most importantly, he will assist in developing players as athletes, students, men, and Christians, which is the football program's mission.

"Concordia is a special place and I'm excited for the opportunity to move to the offensive side of the football," says O'Hara. "I can't wait to get into the trenches with the offensive coaches. We have a really experienced and talented offensive line coming back and I can't wait to get on the field with this group of young men. I started my coaching journey at Concordia seven years ago as a GA and I'm so blessed to be able to work with this staff now as an assistant coach on a day to day basis. I am so blessed to be a part of this great university and coaching staff of Christian men who make each other and our players better each day."

Caleb currently resides in Canton, Michigan, with his wife Molly.
