Jonathan Coddington promoted to Offensive Coordinator

The Concordia University Ann Arbor athletic department has promoted Jonathan Coddington to Offensive Coordinator within the Cardinal Football program. Coddington has coached at Concordia for five seasons in several different capacities and will take over the offense in 2020.

Prior to Concordia, Coddington played and coached football at Anderson University in Indiana. He graduated from Anderson in 2014 with a degree in physical education and health.

Coddington joined Concordia in 2015 as a graduate assistant, where he worked specifically with wide receivers. During his two seasons as a graduate assistant, the Cardinal offense flourished with his wide receiver unit producing two All-MSFA Second Team recognitions. Coddington graduated from Concordia in 2017 with a master's degree in Student Personnel Administration.

In the fall of 2017 the Cincinnati native was promoted to the full-time staff, coaching quarterbacks and leading operations. Coaching the position he played in college, Coddington groomed three different quarterbacks who led CUAA to the playoffs in each of those three years. In 2019, Coddington became the Pass Game Coordinator for the Cardinals in addition to his role as quarterbacks coach.

"Coach Coddington is an excellent coach," says head coach Joshua Schumacher. "He started as a graduate assistant and ran everywhere doing everything he could to help out. Each year we have expanded his role on offense. He is passionate about football, developing guys and sharing his faith in Jesus. I am personally very excited to see him take this next step as a coach."

Coddington is excited to get to continue to work for the Concordia football program and serve student-athletes in his new role. "We have a great coaching staff and a group of players who are talented and bought into the culture here," says Coddington. "That gets me excited to come to work every day. I'm thankful to get to continue to work for and learn from one of the best head coaches and football minds in the country, and we are looking forward to building the best team possible and competing at a very high level this year."

Coddington currently resides in Canton with his wife Kelsey and twins Roger and Caleb.
